It’s been a while since we’ve sent out a CFP for the blog (what you’re reading right now) so blog editor Alex Moran and the blog editorial staff wanted to give you all an update.
How is the blog different from the journal?
Well, reader, I’m glad you asked. The blog is a chance to put your work through the peer-review process, though not as rigorous as the Journal. The process will be shorter, but you may (i.e. probably will) be asked to make some edits. The topics and the writing itself may be less formal than a piece written for the Journal. However, we still ask that you provide Chicago-styled citations (if citations are needed, that is).
Reviews
Have you read any good fiction lately? Or even some Wallace-y nonfiction or poetry? Send us a review of anything that you think the Wallace community might be interested in. Not sure it’s something that belongs on the blog? Send us an email and ask!
General Criticism
Obviously we welcome general Wallace criticism–ideas not quite ready for the Journal. In the past, we have encouraged an interdisciplinary approach, with a “Wallace and…” heading, featuring such topics as Wallace & Art, Wallace & Religion, Wallace and Philosophy, Wallace & Pop Culture, Wallace & Politics and whatever else you may think of (Wallace & Music, Wallace & Film, etc.) Some topics have even been really Wallace-adjacent, like Mark Bresnan’s reflection on John McCain following his death.
